Forests
The Sierra Gorda harbors the last cloud forests in central Mexico.
The cloud forest provides a rich wildlife habitat at elevations reaching 10,000 feet (3,100 meters). Mist bathes huge oaks, white cedars, and magnolias that are draped in multitude of epiphytes and moss. One of the cloud forests a core protected area is called Joya del Hielo, or "Jewel of Ice."
