A cascading waterfall (right) is framed by exuberant growth. Various species find refuge in this region, including butterflies like the blue morphos and ethereal itomids, birds such as the bearded-wood partridge (Dendrortyx barbatus), crested guan (Penelope purpurascens), parrots, and tucanets; wildcats like the puma (Felis concolor) and margay (Felis weidii); as well as brocket deer (Mazama americana), black bears, and spider monkeys.
