Future Light (Changing Lifestyles through Technology)

Entrants's Name: Masbah Uddin Babu Babu

Country: Bangladesh

Field: Community Development

Innovation - idea: To make rural people educated and self employed and to introduce environmentally friendly modern technology.Electricity is an essential element of modern life as it depicts development and a higher living standard. Most rural poor people in Bangladesh, however, do not have access to power and electricity.

Innovation - why it is pioneering: Introducing electricity to rural people who are not aware of the benefits of modern life.Encourage self-employment among rural people so they may earn a living using available resources and have autonomy over their lives.Increase education, thereby developing the skills in an entire village or area.Increase their working time.Increase co-operation policy. Can build own market area and financial

Strategy - how it achieves impact: There are many ways through which living standards of the rural people will improve from this project. One major problem encountered in village life without electricity is that it is impossible to do any productive work after sunset. This project will work towards eliminating this problem. Powering a village will affect all members of a society by benefiting men, women and children alike.Firstly the project will benefit school-going village children. Many rural children cannot study after sunset due to lack of electricity and other problems such as oil expenses. Having artificial lighting at night will enable these children to study after sunset.Secondly, if village people can use electricity at night, they will be able to do other creative work and earn money from those activities. Village women can start stitching, making handicrafts, and perform other earnable work during their free time at night.

Thirdly, the men of the village may increase their family incomes by eithe

Strategy - growth plans: This project will enable village people to start using their own land, resources and man-power to create farming ventures. One option for them is to start a meat and dairy farm that will produce raw materials which will be used in the electricity plant. At the same time this farm will be produce milk and meat. So, poor people can earn money and also produce the raw materials that are essential for the plant.Secondly, they can build a natural fertilizer plant by using the wastage cow dung which is already used in the electricity plant. Village people can start the project to produce natural fertilizer and sell this fertilizer in the market. They can also start a fishing project. These fisheries are profitable for rural poor people as they do not require extra manpower. They can use the same manpower and wastage cow dung.On the other hand, once this project starts running, we will encourage the village women to cultivate vegetables by using own natural fertilizer,

Impact to date: If the project can run properly, not olny NGO but also local comunity people will start this project. Bcase this project will need no more money no need to apply donation. This project can run by co-operation, maintanance and managemant. This project concept can develop a rural comunity, by the help of a gas genarator, save nature , increase working hour, make rural women employed, proper uses for their land, start a school , make a new market and maintain a financial system.Just project members send their cowdung the project location and use the electricity. The members use the electricity by the exchange of cow dung. And the members can start various activities basicly economical activities by start the project.Total areas economic and social condition can be change and improve by this concept.

Future impact: Ten years from now an undeveloped area can be develop by this project. People can use their time, increase economical activities, can adjust them selves with modern technology , proper use land area, start low level factory or processing center, can build natural fertilizer production house and a brand natural fertilizer, can save the nature by this project. Above all the project areas people can start social business.Which concept is decliard by Professor Yunus sir.

Sustainability - resource base: Only 7 people mainly our project mambers and a compost chember and a genarator can start this project. So, only 1,80000 taka can start this project. And next need a proper training and managemant .Steap by steap can be possible to complete other side wings.

Major challenge for the field: At first convence and modify the project areas people. Then trained up them, then show the picture which could be possible by this project , descrive the benifit this project , continue supply the cow dung chain.
