Innovation - why it is pioneering: We give the other side of the story. AIDS is not a deadly or new disease as is made out. It is a chronic disease which can be cured effectively. AIDS is called Oja-kshaya in Ayurveda, Vettai Noi in Siddha and Al-Zabool in Unani and the medicines / remedies given are effective, safe, affordable and without side effects. We also emphasise Alternative Vaccines, Diet, Herbs, Yoga, etc.

Strategy - how it achieves impact: Through lectures, workshops, articles, books, participation in conferences, by conducting Capacity Building workshops, through Radio and TV talks, by advocacy, through our award winning website : www.healthwisdom.org, we reach out to masses. At the XVI International AIDS Conference held in Toronto (13 to 18 August 2006) we conducted a half-day Skills Building Workshop on Diet and Nutrition for HIV/AIDS patients, which was attended by 210 persons (the highest number). Our book AIDS AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE, 4th Revised and Enlarged Edition is the ultimate tome on the subject, which has been nominated for Medicine Nobel.

Strategy - growth plans: We wish to have chapters of AIDS ALTERNATIVA all over the world, train people to train others and set up a World AIDS Holistic Health Hospital and Research Centre.

Impact to date: Millions have benefited by our talks, workshops, articles, reports, books, advocacy, proper dissemination of information.

Future impact: There will be less discrimination, people would have understood the con, having understood the psycho-neuro immunology of the disease, they will be less worried, pharma-beholden press and approach will die down and people will look upto Alternative Wisdom, approaches, Alternative Medicine and take charge of their lives -- For Health Care is Self Care.

Sustainability - resource base: We believe air is free, water is free, and consequently the services should also be free. We therefore do not go with a begging bowl to anyone. We do not apply for funding, because they are usually with strings attached and we do not want to become slaves of anyone and get entrapped in the red tapism. We believe that the height of Independence is in being Independent.

Major challenge for the field: The major insights are : HIV does not cause AIDS. (a)AIDS is a not a dreaded disease as is made out. (b) AIDS is a chronic disease and can be cured within three months. (c) There is no need to panic.
