Innovation - idea: The city community was under the domintion of the privte money lenders before and now it is reduced as the community have their own savings from which they can get loan assistance for their emergency needs and apart from that the organisation provides loan assistance for them to invest in microenterprise activities which can be repaid in easy instalments and thus they can repay the loan.

Innovation - why it is pioneering: Slum community was not approached before with such an initiative to have savings and microcredit programme. Our effort is the pioneer one to make them economically sustainable to take care on the development of their own children. The money they take as loan is repaid in easy instalments as well as they can earn for their livelihoods. The dominations of the private money leders is reduced.

Strategy - how it achieves impact: It was initiated with organising the community into small grouups and initiate Savings programme with them and with the collected money with their own savings it was made them to prepare their mind set to get loan and repay it in correct time. This made the people to have a system in their poverty status. The members who have repaid the loan in the group properly are pvovided with loan assistance from the organisation and so the practice that the members already have made them to repay the loan taken from the organisation in stipulated time.

Strategy - growth plans: The initiated efforts has to be extended further to make the people economically, socially and culturally stand on their own. For achieving this effort it is decided to extend the activities further to help the community in all the possible ways to stand on their own and to train them in making the community more strong and sustainable.

Impact to date: The Loan assistance that we are conducting now is with the best results and it has the repayment of 99% till now with which the development of the life style of the slum dwellers has got a very good impact and it has to be extended still more to make a tangible result in the life of the slum dwellers and so we are making our efforts to extend our activities to see the results.

Future impact: We see that if make the community stand on its own will be the great model to make the people to stand on their own leg. We hope when the community stands on their own the organisation can also have an impact to move to the other area with more number of people to bring the impact overall.

Sustainability - resource base: Wtih the programme that we have initiated now, we have enough number of volunteers in our programme. We have the support of the citizen to bring local support to our programmes. We are still in a phase could not bring any financial support or donations from the support groups.

Major challenge for the field: The change occured in the slums community is decreasing the dependencies on priviate money lenders and the domination of the private money lenders.
