Hello!
This is the first NYC Fight Human Trafficking Newsletter for the New York City Fight Human Trafficking Group (NYC FHTG), and is full of information on the counter-trafficking movement and on human trafficking around the world. All of the work is pulled from excellent Internet sources, news reports, organizations and interviews that provide detailed and up-to-date news on the fight that is spreading around the world at such a tremendous speed.
It seems to have taken a tsunami to bring world-wide attention to the human trafficking industry. Indeed, now that communities and countries are turning their eyes to this business, we are in a perfect and timely position to really push the envelope, to get the word out there and to let people know that we can all do something to stop the trade of human beings for slavery and forced prostitution.
I hope that in the future we can all work together to add updates, to tell our stories, and to meet with our minds to call for systems and policies that will liberate today's slaves. Also, I would like to add that we have a Counter Trafficking meet-up group that has come together over the online community. We will be getting together for informational sessions with speakers who work against trafficking already, for movies that concentrate on human trafficking around the world, and for brainstorming sessions on ways that we — the little but great community members! — can help to spread the word.
