Innovation: "Initiative Hope" - Free Anti Retroviral Viral (ARV) Treatment for survivors of trafficking (children, girls and women).

Impact: All of the children, girls and women who are survivors of trafficking and HIV / AIDS are now under ARV Treatment. This has helped them to regain confidence to live a new life. With the help of this project, two successful cases of Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) has been achieved. The project being a pilot in Nepal, the Government who has also now initiated the project has been learning from our experiences. At present nationally we have the capacity to provide systematic ARV treatment.

Tipping Point: The first ever provision of ARV in Nepal and directly targeting the trafficked survivors (children, girls and women). After the start of this project in 2003, the government of Nepal has also initiated such a project.

Replication: This project is replicable in any part of the world, provided there is commitment not only from the organization providing the service, but also by the donors and supporters.

Sustainability: Absolutely inevitable or the provision of anti-retroviral drugs is their regular administration. It has been scientifically proved that taking the medicine on an irregular basis might cause more harm than it will actually benefit the patient. Once the therapy has started its continuation must be assured by all means. Practically in the availability of the drug and its consumption as well as in financial terms. Therefore sufficient funding is a substantial must for the project. Only on the basis of guaranteed funding for at least one or two years ahead the provision of the medicine should start.
