Combating Human Trafficking - the Fight to Champion the Dignity of Others!

Country: Nigeria

Innovation: To me,human trafficking is a humanitarian crisis that needs interpersonal solution.Slavery can become extinct on the day when every individual avoids and protests from being enslaved, rather than falling victim to it on their struggle of life. It is a transnational criminal enterprise that recognizes neither boundaries nor borders. Profits from trafficking feed the coffers of organized crime; trafficking has become the second largest source of income for criminal networks after drug running, according to the United Nations. Why is trafficking so lucrative? Because traditional anti-trafficking law enforcement efforts have been hindered by laws that were limited in scope and which mandated only minor fines or punishment for offenders.

Impact: As an individuaL WHO HAS THE POTENTial to mobilize volunteers together and seek the support of NGO'S and my regional legislators to make anti-human trafficking laws,i strongly believe my activity will be positively felt. Making contact with both the print and electronic media for better awareness on the evils of human trafficking will also not be left behind.

Tipping Point: Only the spread of education, equalization of living conditions and commitment by the mature powers of the world can bring this evil trade to an end. Slavery, forced labour and child labour should be stamped out once and for all. There are several grass-root groups working to improve conditions for working children and young people. These groups should all come under one umbrella financially and the projects should be coordinated forcefully by the United Nations. For the above tipping points to be met, effots are being taken to reach the children in schools and religious homes for enlightenment.

Replication: Replication is very important in ensuring war against human trafficking. replication can be made to international orgnisations like the united nations, international labour orgnisation, NgO's and non for profit making organisations that can help in cambatng human trafficking regionally and internationally.

Sustainability: The borderless nature of human trafficking demands that law enforcement and judicial officials continuously develop new strategies and modes of cooperation for the investigation and prosecution of this crime. By God's able power, I will work in connection with influencial personalities in my region to improve on this. One factor I know can hinder self- sustainability is financial constraint. However, help will be solicited from the member of the public. Frequent and informative programs can never be over-emphasized in the sustainability.
