3) Strategy Summary:
Inside the employed strategy the participation of the educational community of the place is considered, the educational authority, the city hall and the private enterprises. Normally social projects require financing originated from international cooperation to achieve its execution. The originality of this project lies exactly in the strategy that has been designed so that the sustainability of the project depends, mainly, on the participants own resources. Not only financially, but the participants are also committed to participate in the execution and evaluation of the project during the intervention time limit and also, subsequently, through an Interinstitutional Civic Committee which guarantees sustainability

4) How the Strategy Works:
Step 1: Coordination and diagnosis

Before initiating any activity, coordination meetings have been held with the local, educational authorities and inhabitants of the area, in order to make the proposal known. A diagnosis has been carried out to see what the situation of the area is. Agreements among the institutions involved have been signed inside these previous coordinations to reassure their support.

Step 2: Educational Training

The mastery of an adequate pedagogical methodology guarantees the students learning and with it, the improvement of necessary capacities for their profitable incorporation in the working world and the sustainable development of the district.

Step 3: Students that handle the Yachay Wasi Method and its instruments

The efficient learning of the natural sciences using the Yachay Wasi method and its tools, develops the capacities of the students on the field of science and the technology and it empowers them with the skills to apply them to other disciplines.

Step 4: Community of the district of Asia with environmental conscience

Population empowered with an adequate environmental awareness with cognitive and emotional capacities. Undoubtedly they will adequatelly behave towards environment and its sustainability.

Step 5: Healthy teachers and students

The empowerment of knowledge and capacities as well as the access to the existing health programs enable teachers and students healthy lifestyles and the self / mutual care of their health.

Step 6: Teachers and students produce and understand texts

The basic abilities of reading and understanding texts promote the possibility of learning more and better, thus, improve their socialization skills.

Step 7: Children and girls of kinder and primary level with early stimulation Kinder and primary school children develop their capacities and potentialities in the ideal phase for such end, in function to the early stimulation and the cognitive variability.

Step 8: Interinstitutional Civic Committee

It's a local Agency which purpose is to guarantee educational quality for the Sustainable Development. This agency is borne by civic participation, local financial contributions, political will and technical support.

The model is repeatable following in other districts the same calling and consolidating alliances among the civil company strategy, the State and the business. Moreover, the will to retort the model exists in the Consortium that has been formed.

5) Key Strategy Elements:

i. Mobilizing Citizen Support:
Yachay Wasi has achieved commitments as well as verbal and written compromises from different social actors of the Asia community (local authorities, private enterprise, rural community, APAFAs, teachers, principals, among others). The purpose of the project is to promote and to consolidate sustainable strategic alliances for concrete actions in favor of the educational quality in Asia.

ii. Generating Financial and Nonfinancial Resources:
The Local city Hall of Asia assumes the commitment to support economically the project. APRILS is a non- profitable civil association that groups twenty-four beach clubs of the Asia district (1,800 associates). They have institutionally assumed the economic commitment to yearly contribute to the project. ATOCONGO Association, AMANCO del Peru (national private enterprises), have assumed social responsibility and contribute financially to the project. The AVINA Foundation contributes from the international cooperation lending a basic economic support to the initiative. Among all them, the educational authority and the IIP Yachay Wasi a Consortium Agreement has been signed. This guarantees their contribution them for a minimum three years.

iii. Establishing Relationships with Strategic Partnerships:
Since the year 2003 the coordinated work with the Provincial city Hall of ASIA, the real estate Owners Association of the South Seaboard (APRILS) and the Ca ete UGEL has resulted in the initiation of the project activities in 2004. The will of the of school principals and of the family parents associations is remarkable, as well as the great expectation created in the population regarding an improvement in the educational quality. The cut evaluation reports significant achievements.

v. Developing Information and Spreading the Message:
The activities of the project are diffused through the magazines of the area. The magazine of the Local city Hall of Asia, refers to the activities that are being developed. The magazines published and they diffused in the beaches of Asia also collect interviews and reviews of the activities executed in the project. Recently, a story mentioning the work that is being carried out in favor of the population has appeared in the oldest newspaper of the country, El Comercio

The vast majority of the program participation has been built mainly through word of mouth and direct communication.

6) Increasing Self-sufficiency and Social Impact:
The participation of the teachers and inhabitants of the place greatly reduces the costs of execution and constitutes a non-financial resource that is used inside other projects that the institution executes as well. Being this type of participation basically promoted through the making, it allows the institution to have the characteristic of self-sufficiency and it also magnifies the social impact. The formation of a strategic alliance among local authorities, private enterprises and the technical entity (Yachay Wasi), constitutes an orchestrated working model. Inside this model the parts contribute according to its capacities. The local authorities according to its promoting function for the development of the locality. The socially committed private enterprises respond according to their economical capacity. The technical entity with its know how, is the one that lends its knowledge and experience in activities that mainly impact in the development of community.

8) Organization Mission and Vision:
Yachay Wasi is an interdisciplinary civic group, a leader in the production of innovative educational material and technology that strives to promote quality education both in Peru as well as in the entire Andean Region.
