Engaging Young People
through
Dynamic Points of Contact
by Suzanne Isack
Social entrepreneurs are engaging and re-interesting children in learning by first hooking their attention with a dynamic and meaningful "point of contact." This month, Changemakers Journal focuses on two social entrepreneurs who have found exciting, engaging, and unconventional activities to teach and connect with young people despite social and economic limitations, poor healthcare, and failing education systems.
These social innovators have discovered the importance of finding new ways to reach young people in order to build discrete skills that prepare them for successes later in life. In communities as diverse as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Lima, Peru, inspired and diligent social entrepreneurs like Matthew Johnson of Strive Media and Sara Diestro of the School for Sports and Life have discovered dynamic points of contact that entice young people to learn.
